Tubajon Aqua Marine Park

Yesterday, my daughter and I went to Tubajon, Laguindingan to check the property our family bought in 2014. The last time my husband and I went there 3 years ago, it was still a small community. What I like about this community is that they preserved their mangrove plantation which became a sanctuary for fishes.  They also do not allow illegal fishing in the area.

I am also happy to know that the community converted this sanctuary as a tourist place. Known as the Tubajon Aqua Marine Park, friends, families and travelers can spend some time in the place, relax, appreciate the beauty of nature, and swim with the fishes.

Upon entrance, you will be greeted by the friendly locals. You only have to pay P20.00 for adults and P10.00 for kids as entrance fees. You can also buy food from them. You may also avail of a cottage ranging from P300 - P1000.

Before you will reach the swimming/cottage areas, you will walk through this bamboo pathway surrounded by mangroves. Such a refreshing place!

The park opened last year so many people already know about the place. It's really a haven for nature lovers.

We were not able to swim because it was not part of the plan but we will definitely come back!

How to get there:

From Cagayan de Oro:

  • If you're commuting, ride the bus through Super 5 or Rural Transit from the Terminal of Cagayan de Oro City for Php 65.00 and it will take you for an hour or 2. Tell the driver to drop you off in Barangay Mauswagon. Then, ride a motorbike for around P40.00 to the park.
  • If you are driving, you should pass by the airport access road but do not go right towards the airport. Instead, keep driving on the national high way until you will see another road going to the right. You should see motorbike riders and a huge sign of "Barangay Mauswagon". Just follow the concrete road leading to Barangay Tubajon.
