The Kagayanon Travel: Iligan City 2010

Did you experience travelling without an itinerary? Without a map? Without a tour guide? Without knowing somebody from the place you're going to?

Me? Definitely! I call it adventure travel. I had several trips already in which I did not have any idea on how to go about the place.  What I do is simple research in the internet about the place, jot down the addresses, and that's it!! I'm on the go!
Well, yesterday, I had another adventure travel. This was totally unexpected and unplanned. We just wanted to relax a little bit and decided to go somewhere outside but nearer Cagayan de Oro City. So, we decided to go to Iligan City. It was actually an impulsive decision.

So, here it goes...
We (me, my mom, tata, aunt venus, and cousin jessa) departed from CDOC at exactly 7:43 am and arrived at Iligan Bus Terminal at almost 9 am.

1. EL LAURIENTO, TIMOGA

From there, we rode another bus going to the famous Timoga. Since we did not know the location (as we do not have maps and all), we just told the bus driver to drop us off at the exact place. Door-to-door, you know! We did not know it was at Brgy. Buruun--- 4 kilometers from the city proper, I think. We paid P10.00 each for the bus ride (Yeah, it's that cheap!).

When we arrived there, we noticed there were several Spring Resorts but we chose El Lauriento because we saw there were only few people inside.

The entrance was P50.00 each and we took the cottage (tables and chairs, actually) worth P150.00 at the topmost part of the place so that we could get some air and a nice view. We immediately settled down and started... err….taking pictures!!

Welcome to Timoga!!!

This is the view from our area. Very nice place, indeed!!!

Went swimming afterwards and just had fun taking photos of ourselves in all the corners of the place. Hehehe.

They had several swimming pools. And this one was taken at the 4-5 ft. pool.

Every corner of the place is very nice!! You won't resist taking pictures. We were actually able to take 100+ photos of this place. teehee. :)

And who will forget about quality bonding time???!! Not us!!!

At 2pm, we went out. Took a jeepney ride supposedly going back to the city proper. Then, we passed by Brgy. Maria Cristina. We immediately decided to dropby at the Maria Cristina Falls. We did not have any idea on how to go about there. We told the driver to drop us off at the “crossing”. We took a short walk until we reached the NPC gate. Luckily, we arrived there on time for the LAST tour. Yes, we were actually part of the last batch accommodated for that day! Lucky eh?!! Yey!

2. NPC NATURE'S PARK

So, we rode the shuttle bus to the NPC nature’s park. We took lotsa photos there.

We need to ride this shuttle to tour the place.

3. Maria Cristina Falls

We then went to the famous Maria Cristina Falls (still located inside NPC), and took more photos there. We were mesmerized byits beauty. As in! Very nice to look at!

Somebody took this photo for us. We finally had a group pic. Thanks to whoever that was! :) hehehe.

For only P30.00 each only, that was all worth it! Now, I can say I did not only see the Maria Cristina falls in books but in reality as well.  :) :) :)

At 4pm, we went out and we headed to the city proper.

4. Touring around the city by riding a kalesa

Upon arriving there, we saw these “kalesas” and out of curiosity, we decided to ride! The good driver toured us around the city.

De La Salle Iligan

That was a super-duper fun ride!!!! :) :) :)

The driver asked us a very low fare but we  gave him a hundred pesos instead. :) Thank you manong!

5. Last Stop: Gaisano to buy some souvenirs

After a very tiring yet enjoyable day touring around, we went to Gaisano (the only mall in Iligan, I think) to rest and buy some souvenirs.

We went out the mall and found out it was raining. So, we decided to go back to the bus terminal by riding a PU (yes, there are still non-aircon cars for hire in Iligan) for only P70.00.

Home Sweet home at almost 9pm.

Till my next adventure trip!!
