HANDOG PABAHAY NI KONGRESMAN is a housing project by some of our Congressmen in partnership with Gawad Kalinga, Inc. On May 5, 2012, the 9 Congressmen (listed on the tarpauline below) with the JCI chapters of CDO and Gawad Kalinga went to Canitoan to formally turn-over the project and start the GK Resettlement Village.
This project is commendable since the Congressmen did the project from their own pockets. Each of them donated P110,000.00 for each house to be constructed.
The congressmen also grabbed the opportunity to experience building a house... under the heat of the sun. In fact, all of them seem to enjoy what they're doing.
After the "build", they went straight to Mallberry Suites Hotel for the Memorandum of Agreement Signing and a Press Conference. The Congressmen were able to answer the questions thrown to them by the media.
According to these congressmen, they are hoping to inspire people to help others especially those who were victims of calamities like Sendong and encourage their co-politicians to donate as well.
If that would come true, then we would be glad to see more houses being built for our fellowmen.
